DESCRIPTION OF ITEM
VERY COOL vintage book:it is very scarce, titled The Old Offices 44 State Street.  it was published in January 1924, i can only find one other copy which is at the Historic New England archive. there are 14 pages of 8 x 10" albumen prints of the outside and interior of the investment banking offices of H L Higginson. the firm of Lee, Higginson & co was located at the address. the photos are of high detail and include: Union building about 1870 (built in 1826), Union building Thanksgiving Day 1925, Order room as it was in 1919 one of the two rooms originally occupied by the Firm in 1853, Partner's Room in 1919, Foreign Department in 1919 looking toward State Street, Partners' Conference Room in 1919, View from Main Entrance at 44 State Street in 1925, looking toward State Street, Partners' Room in 1925, Another View of Partners' Room in 1925, The Stock Department in 1925, Cages on First Floor of Whittier Building in 1925, The Foreign Department from State Street Entrance in 1925, The Foreign Department looking toward State Street in 1925, VERY COOL AND SCARCE.  the pages/photos are a bit wavy.  H. L. Higginson is of course best known for founding the BOSTON SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA IN 1881.
