SS UNITED STATES LINES Gold Eagle Show Plate / Top Condition

Description

This is a gold eagle show plate from "The SS United States Liner". It measures...9" across, and is in top condition. This fine china piece was custom manufactured for the "Big U" by the "Mayer China Company" of New York, which is stamped on the bottom. The gold leaf design is in excellent condition. Unlike this fabulous gold eagle show plate, most were in very poor condition from 18 years of service at sea. These elegant show plates were used only as decorum at each dining room place setting; never used as dinner plates. Wine card is included.
