A superb and rare photo of theLaverda 1000 3CL triple of 1976
.
The famous Laverda 1000cc triple model series were introduced to the public during the 1972 edition of the
Milan
motorshow.
It entered production the same year.
The 1000 3 CL featured the mighty and very well made
981cc
d.o.h.c.
three cylinder Laverda engine.
It had a bore and stroke of 75 x
74 mm
. The triple from Breganze could deliver a more then healthy power output of 80 hp.
This was more then enough to propel the bike to a top speed of
135 mph
(215 kmh )!
Over the years Laverda made a few very special three cylinder 1000cc factory racers, which were used for long distance racing like the 24 Hours of
Le Mans
.
This

image was taken in
1976
and shows the
1000 3 CL
from that year.
By then it had received cast alloy wheels, a rear Brembo disc brake and an oil cooler.
In the
USA
, Laverda was also marketed under the
American Eagle
name.
A very nice
non period
photo that reflects a wonderful era of Laverda’s glorious history in a wonderful way.
Therefore it is printed in a nice large format of ca. 8" x 12" (ca. 20 x
