    Description

A superb and rare photo of the famous
    Ducati 900
    NCR
    , shown in
    winning
    form during the
    Battle
    of the Twins races
    at
    Daytona
    in
    March 1981
. On the bike we see the magnificent
    Jimmy Adamo
    .
    It was the
first major international victory for Ducati
    in the new
    Battle
    of the Twins racing class.
Jimmy Adamo is seen riding an ex-factory
    Ducati 900 NCR
which was prepared by Reno Leoni. The engine was a modified Ducati 900SS unit and had a capacity of exactly 947cc. It delivered a power output of 110bhp at 8,500 r.p.m. This was enough to propel the bike to a top speed of
    156 mph
    (
    251 km/h
    ).
In the 1970’s and 1980’s, racing with production based machinery was extremely popular in
    Europe
. These events were responsible for the quick gaining popularity of the heavier sports motorcycles, like the Ducati 750 SS, the Moto Guzzi V7 Sport, the Benelli 650 Tornado and the Laverda 750 SFC, but also British machines like the Norton Commando, Triumph Trident & BSA Rocket 3, but also the Japanese superbikes like the Honda CB 750 Four and the Kawasaki two strokes. Riders that would make world fame, like Franco Uncini and Marco Lucchinelli, all participated in these races before they made the steps to the Grand Prix World Championship racing scene. The
    Battle
of the Twins racing series was started up in
    1981 in
    the
    USA
but soon was being organized in
    Europe
as well. Without doubt the Ducati NCR was one of the best machines for this great racing class, recreating that wonderful 1970s era of classic four stroke racing.
Without doubt this is a rare opportunity to obtain a very nice
    non period
image that reflects a wonderful era of Ducati’s rich history in a wonderful way. This is your rare chance to own this image, therefore it is printed in a nice large format of ca. 7.5" x 11.5" (ca.19 x
    29 cm
    ).
