Shown is the 198cc BMW R2. This was the very first single cylinder motorcycle BMW ever made. It was introduced in 1931, and was also the very first BMW with battery & coil ignition system. Despite its high price it was a big success. It had a top speed of
59 mph

95 km/h
) and weighed
242 pounds

110 kg
).
Also in the photo an airplane, equipped with another well known BMW product: the radial aircraft engine. A terrific photo that shows BMW’s diversified engineering brilliance as no other image.
